I was a newbie back in May & John (sinistr) was of great help to me. Regarding time, the time trials (test runs) start at 10am. I beleive that tech inspection opens around 8 or 9. So, i'd try to get there by 9am. Racing is until 5 or so. After the time trials, you'll need to dial-in a time (mark on ur car) and if you are eliminated the 1st round, your pretty much done for the day.
In terms of how it works. Basically, you pull up to the main gates of Raceway Park (stay left)and there will be an attendant at the booth. Tell them you are here to race in the Modern Mopar Drags (Hemi Bracket) and they will ask you if you have a 2011 permanent racing number. Tell them you dont & they will assign one for you. you will get card with your 2011 Perm Racing number. mine is 7696. I think it was $30-$35 I beleive.
Then they will give you a tech card which is also around $30. this card allows u to race for that day within ur bracket. You'll then pass thru the gates and go around to the back where the pits are. Proceed to the next booth, which is "Tech Inspection". You'll fill out your tech card which identifies you & your ride and they'll ask you the engine size 5.7L, etc.. and any extensive mods. You'll need a helmet that is within the regs. then the'll do quick inspection of car and ask u couple questions. And then they'll send you to the pits. you'll see where all the modern mopars are just park in that area. look for any of us.
At tech, they will ask if you want them to mark your car if you dont have the marker. all of us have em so you dont need to have them do it. But basically, you need to mark on your driver side back window HB (Hemi Bracket) plus your number. For example mine would be HB7696. I also mark the driver side of the front windshield. This tells the tower the bracket your racing in and your car number.
Then you'll have 2 or 3 trial runs depending on time. You'll have to listen for the PA speaker to call the HHP Modern Mopar Hemi Bracket and you'll head to the staging lanes...example they may call hemi bracket to staging lanes.... 11 & 12. Once in the staging lanes as you pass into the tunnel they'll mark your tech card. At this point make sure you have your helmet on and strap secured, and seatbelt on. Then just follow everyone else & look at the track officials. they'll wave you on to each stage. if you're runnin street tires, go around the water & do burn out to clean tires. Per the guys, u dont want to do full burn out thru water cause for street tires it wont have same effect as DR's. DR's need to get extra hot for u to get grip on the track so the burnout thru water heats em up pretty good.
Then they'll wave u on for the race. Pull up to starting area just shy of the line. as u inch closer, you'll trigger the first light (pre-stage) wait for ur opponent to pre-stage, then u can move up & it'll trigger the 2nd light (staging), then u'll opponet will do same, which will then lite the tree. u'll have 3 greens, one after the other. when u see the 2nd one lite up & as 3rd is about to go on, take off.
after the qtr mile run you'll have plenty of track to slow down. there are 3 exits to ur left. if ur in the right lane, just make sure the guy on ur left either turned off or enuff behind u as u turn left...usually i turn off the second or third exit.
then u follow the access road & make a right after the EMT station and there will be a booth where u pick up ur time slip. and then back to the pits.
but, everyone is cool there and willing to help and explain things. and, once you get ur 1st run in, u'll knwo what to do.
hope this helped.

WoW. Now I feel obligated to go, you went to all the trouble typing all of that! Haha. I'll see if I can get someone to watch the kid and convince the wife to let me go. Then I'll have to borrow a helmet.

Long day at the track, electrical problems with the tree. It was good to see everyone again and I got to see Claude's new combo run. On a day with good air low 12's no problem. I went three rounds, and even got to go up against a brand new Charger R/T. I ended up losing to Juan(the eventual winner) by. 05 seconds. He got me on the reaction time even though I ran closer to my dial.
The next scheduled race is Oct.22.
The Shakedown is scheduled for Oct. 8,9,10. The raindates for this are Nov.4,5,6. So if the Shakedown is a rainout, there will not be a race for the Mopars at Etown in. Nov.
