New Charger R/T at the track
There was a brand new Charger R/T at the track yesterday.
5.7 completely stock.
Anyone what to guess what it ran in the quarter?

Nope. Good guess though.
The new models have 20 more hp then last years model but it is 200lbs heavier.

Re: New Charger R/T at the track
wow. now u got me thinking, if its lower et's then i may go out & buy one. was on stcok radials or did the car have DR's? if its higher then i feel better since with some mods i only ran a best 13.98 (i know it was only 1st runs).
second guess: 13.7 with stock tires
second guess: 13.4 with DR's
second guess: 13.7 with stock tires
second guess: 13.4 with DR's

No more guesses? I think you guys might have given the car too much credit.
I saw the car make two passes. One I got to watch and the other I got to see him leave and then I drove past him.

Re: New Charger R/T at the track
Those are all really good guesses.
I didn't get to see his two time runs but the two elimination times were:
14.44 & 14.57
I didn't see or hear any wheelspin.
So even with the increase in power it still runs the same times as a stock 06-08 R/T (non R/T pack or Daytona )

i guess the extra 200 lbs plus weight of driver offsets the 20+ hp gain. but, it's funny cause i went online to check out some numbers and Road&Track has it doing the qtr mile in 13.7 seconds, see below. I figured that was a bit quick being a stock r/t with extra 200+ lbs from the old version. wonder what conditions they ran the car?

That was an automatic?
I don't know much about the Chargers but I'm surprised at those times.

Re: New Charger R/T at the track
Nope, sadly it is not. My car with me in it and a 1/4 tank of gas is 4250 lbs. So you figure with driver the new car could be 4400-4500lbs. The other thing against it is the stock R/T final ratio used to be 2.82. I believe it is now 2.62. The new car is quite portly and needs more umph to get it going. I know of a Magnum that has cam and head work, trans work, and gears but most of the time runs 13.9-14.0. Why you ask? The car weighs 4600-4650 lbs with driver.

Re: New Charger R/T at the track
I assumed it would be more in line with Challenger times-, But I didn't know the gear ratio was a 2.82 either.
My (mostly) stock R/T runs 13.4 @ 104 (auto, 1/2 tank gas, my 245 lb fat a#$) and goes 4520 with me in it. Now that IS with 93 octane and the 91 CAI tune. Bone stock it ran a 13.7 @ 99.
I wasn't real happy with my times, But I guess I should be.
Interesting, seems like the weight is pretty even, other than the gearing I wonder where the difference is?

Re: New Charger R/T at the track
In really good air the new Charger(completely stock) will probably run 14.1/14.0. The first couple passes that I made with my car(stock except Airaid drop in) were 14.3-14.4 @under 100. So its close.
