200+ Dodge Challenger Tips & Tricks 2008 - 2012
I was looking for info on how to shut off the trunk light while the trunk is open and I found this link to over 200 tips and tricks for the Dodge Challenger. I'm sure some of these tips would apply to other LX cars so please check it out.
While at car shows or working on your car with the trunk open for extended periods of time shut your trunk light off using a small wooden dowel rod to lock the trunk latch by pushing on the latch until it locks, this will turn the trunk light off. Caution don't try to shut your trunk without releasing the trunk latch, it will bang down on the catch, which could cause some damage according to how hard you slam the trunk. There are two ways to release the latch, you can use your key fob to open the trunk latch or you can pull the yellow emergency trunk release. Now you can close the trunk safely. Post any experiences you have with tips and tricks that worked for you or aren't listed in this comprehensive list attached here. Enjoy.

The lights go off after 2 or 3 mintues as long as you don't open another door etc. The car goes into sleep mode.

Oh contra my dear friend, once I happened to leave my trunk unlatched for a couple of days while my car was resting in the garage. I was thinking if I had the trunk down but not latched it would shut the light off in the trunk, this was old school thinking. Completely dead battery, wouldn’t light a led if one was hooked up. I had to charge the battery from dead. It’s not good to let a battery go completely dead, it never fully recovers from this and the battery will be weaker because it was fully drained. This happened back before I took my car into the dealer for the upgraded battery and cables replacement that was prevalent on early 2009 Challengers. So I got a new battery and thicker cables and I have been taking good care of it since then.
Besides how would you know anyway you don't even have a trunk Maggy Man!
