3.06 Getrag LSD Rear

Well, I may be blowing by my 2012 budget but I figured I start the new year with a bang. Picked up a full 3.06 getrag lsd diff with axles & hubs. should have it in a couple days.

Next mod will probably be cam and UD pulley with new timing chain. Looking to early spring. And then, just gotta get some DR's and get it on the track maybe late March / early April and see how she handles

I'm jealous! I am picking up a 3.73 getrag on friday, but would rather have a 3.06. Although I'll probably change my mind after the first time I scorch the tires :-)

Did you also pick a new coupler and pink bolt/nuts?

No, I didnt but I will be. I'm glad you and John mentioned about coupler. I read several lxforums threads and good thing I did cause it seems the stock coupler is not efficient and may cause bolt or even drive shaft issues/damage.

i'll be picking up the new 392 coupler along with bolts & nuts (pink) probably this week.

Yeah, the sleeves are 3 or 4mm smaller in diameter on the stock R/T coupler and you'll eventually tear apart the coupler or bend/break the stock bolts. That's one great thing about LXF, lots and lots of great information/documentation there. The advanced search function is my best friend :-)

so, i'm going to pick up the new coupler #68090505AA, long mountingbolt 6509315AA, and then the pink bolts/nuts #68052356AA & 6509429AA. How many of the pink bolts/nuts do i need? 3? or 6? ones from coupler to driveshaft & coupler to diff? and are the the same?

caus i heard guys talking on lxf about pink & green (blue) bolts/nuts and it seemed u needed 6.

I would replace all 6. I found the below on LXForums...

68052356AA - Pink Bolts - There are 3 to a box, so order 2.
06509429AA - Pink Nuts - Sold individually, so order 6

cool. I ordered the following from Dodge Parts dealer:

mounting bolt #6509315AA (1), coupler #68090505AA (1), bolt-kit (3 in pack - pink bolts) #68052356AA (2), nuts #6509429AA (6), and lock nut / hub nut #6504007 (2).

I have 2 qts of Royal purple 75w90 gear oil and 2 bottles of limited slip additive.

I checkd and the diff came with pre-installed gear oil. but i got some just in case we need to add.

I also have install instructions. That should be all the parts that are needed. Once I get all parts (should be this week), we should be good to go.

yeah, i got the diff/hub& axle trak pack pkge from mancini racing. they had best deal out there.

I was just looking in the LX parts catalog and noticed you ordered 2 of the hub nuts, part # 6504007. I believe they are for the front. I have the following part number for the rears, 6506263AA. See pics below... I'm not sure if they are one in the same, but having different part numbers would beg to differ. Just thought I'd bring it up so you can verify. I haven't been to the dealer to order the hardware I need for the Getrag or Brembo swap, but this is what I found when researching. Also, since you purchased the axles new, you may get lucky and have the nuts included.

Dealer can get them in a day if not in stock. I may go and order my stuff tomorrow, so I can bring mine just in case.

I just got all the parts today. Got the coupler (with hardware/reg bolts & nuts) 68090505AA, the bolt-hex head 6509315AA (long bolt), 2 sets of 3 (total 6) pink bolts 68052356AA, 6 Nuts 6509429AA, and of course the two axle (hub) nuts 6504007....it was funny because I double checked to make sure they were rear and in one spot it said front but on another descr it mentioned rear....i didnt see the other part number you mentioned above.

J, i'm glad you researched.. im gonna try to confirm to see if they are different and try to get the corrct ones asap. unfortunately my axles did not come with axle nuts pre-installed.....so i will need them for the swap

well.....maybe we can get our "fabricators" out on Sat. got two nuts, let's make em work. who's up for some fab work....

i called Chapman Chrysler Dodge in Horsham and the parts guy confirmed that there was only a front susp part# for axle (hub) nut with part# 6504007, which meant that the front & back were interchangeable.

part# 6506263AA is a nut-hex flange for the actual differential from what he was seeing. and it was half the price of the axle nut.

so, it looks like the part# i have is the correct one.
I did test to make sure the nuts fit the axles and they did.

J, let me know if u found anything to the contrary.

J, i posted on the other thread that the parts guy at chapman dodge told me that there was only 1 axle (hub) nut coming on his list which was the ones i got (part 6504007). i'm gonna double check cause i wan to make sure.

just got confirmation from a member on lxfroums that the ones J mentioned are the rear. im gonna have to order asap (2) 06506263AA itmes....

i just ordered 2 axle nuts part 6506263AA with 2 washers part # 4809863AC UPS next day. so hopefully get them in by Friday.

picked up the two axle nuts part# 06506263A for rear today. so its definitely a GO for tomorrow. I should be at Chas' by 9 the latest.

3.06 getrag rear with new axles & hubs installed! put on diablosport tune, with claude's help & noticable difference on the ride home! car felt stronger and responsive.

next will be drag radials on weld racing wheels
